2.3.7 - Mass Properties

2.3.7-4 Level 2 Tasks

Tasks Applicable Mission Phases Description SFWC Artifacts References
2.3.7-4-1 Ensure a mass properties database is developed and maintained to support program mass properties recording, analysis, and reporting requirements Phase A | Phase B | Phase C | Phase D1 | Ensure verification and validation of the database/model contains mass properties data records for all items on the space vehicle, including analytic values for paint, coatings, bondlines, corefill, and thermal finishes. Validate the database/model has imports (from CAD) and export (to Excel or formatted text) capability, propellant modeling capability, and the flexibility to filter, sort, and report mass properties data in multiple formats (e.g., by drawing tree, work break down structure, drawing number, or by function). 2.3.7-4-2 Ensure electronic records are maintained that represent a snapshot in time, or continuous time-stamped database of the detailed mass properties database Phase A | Phase B | Phase C | Phase D1 | Ensure freezing of database, or capability for full date/time stamping of data records and data extraction by date/time to coincide with publication of mass properties reports. Ensure electronic files for the following milestones are maintained for the duration of the program: Authority to Proceed, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Pre-Ship Review, and Launch.
