4.4.5 - Electrical Power & Distribution Subsystem (EPDS)

4.4.5-9 Level 2 Tasks

Tasks Applicable Mission Phases Description SFWC Artifacts References
4.4.5-9-1 Ensure adequate and available schedule (timing, duration and sequencing) and resources for preliminary/final system integration and test Phase B | Phase C | Phase D1 | Ensure test validity is not impacted if some units or subsystems are unavailable or have partially functional placeholders during for-the-record testing. NA NA Space Vehicle Systems Engineering Handbook, TOR-2006(8506)-4494, Space Vehicle Test and Evaluation Handbook, TOR-2011(8591)-2
4.4.5-9-2 Ensure subsystem integration and test activities adequately addresses certification Phase B | Phase C | Phase D1 | Evaluate subsystem attributes required for certification for the expected transportation, launch processing, launch and on-orbit environments. Evaluate units/payloads delivered from other entities to ensure compliance with subsystem interface requirements NA NA Space Vehicle Systems Engineering Handbook, TOR-2006(8506)-4494, Space Vehicle Test and Evaluation Handbook, TOR-2011(8591)-2
4.4.5-9-3 Ensure that all subsystem interfaces are considered as part of the space vehicle test planning effort Phase C | Phase D1 | Ensure subsystem interfaces are tested/verified at the subsystem level and validated at the space vehicle level NA NA Space Vehicle Systems Engineering Handbook, TOR-2006(8506)-4494, Space Vehicle Test & Evaluation Handbook, TOR-2011(8591)-2
4.4.5-9-4 Ensure test readiness is evaluated Phase C | Phase D1 | Ensure completeness of test readiness to include certified resources (manpower, equipment), contingency planning, environment and situational awareness of other competing programs. Ensure reviews are conducted at each lower level of assembly before integration to a higher level. NA NA Space Vehicle Test and Evaluation Handbook, TOR-2011(8591)-2
4.4.5-9-5 Ensure that EPDS test plans include adequate safeguards to prevent harmful transient or steady-state voltages Phase B | Phase C | Phase D1 | Review contractor's "tailored" environmental testing specification and note all exceptions taken by the contractor. Include pre-test checks of connector, wiring integrity, polarities, voltage and current limit settings on special test equipment. Use high-speed data acquisition systems to capture any voltage or current glitches that may occur. NA NA Space Vehicle Systems Engineering Handbook, TOR-2006(8506)-4494
4.4.5-9-6 Ensure that EPDS testing exercises all charge management and fault management functions (both hardware and software), including safe hold and load shed protocols Phase C | Phase D1 | Ensure that the FMS requirement flowed to the power subsystem are incorporated into the FMS architecture and hardware and software design and performance is exercised in a test as you fly FMS test facility.
