4.5.4-9 Level 2 Tasks

Tasks Applicable Mission Phases Description SFWC Artifacts References
4.5.4-9-1 Ensure adequate and available schedule (timing, duration and sequencing) and resources for preliminary/final system integration and test Phase B | Phase C | Phase D1 | Ensure test validity is not impacted if some units or subsystems are unavailable or have partially functional placeholders during for-the-record testing. Ensure plans address complete system evolution at the interface as well as any NO HARM measures employed. NA NA Space Vehicle Systems Engineering Handbook, TOR-2006(8506)-4494, Space Vehicle Test and Evaluation Handbook, TOR-2011(8591)-2
4.5.4-9-2 Ensure payload integration and test activities adequately addresses requirement verification and certification Phase B | Phase C | Phase D1 | Evaluate payload attributes required for certification for the expected transportation, launch processing, launch and on-orbit environments. Evaluate units/payloads delivered from other entities to ensure compliance with subsystem interface requirements. All high power RF interconnections should be tested for multipaction with at least a 3dB margin at the subsystem level prior to final system integration. NA NA Space Vehicle Systems Engineering Handbook, TOR-2006(8506)-4494, Space Vehicle Test and Evaluation Handbook, TOR-2011(8591)-2; Standard/Handbook for Radio Frequency (RF) Breakdown Prevention in Spacecraft Components (TOR-2014)-02198
4.5.4-9-3 Ensure payload Interfaces at space vehicle level is assessed Phase C | Phase D1 | Ensure that all payload interfaces are considered as part of the Space Vehicle Test Planning Effort. These payload interfaces are tested/verified at the payload level and validated at the space vehicle level. During payload integration, X-rays should be taken of all mated connectors in all units to insure proper connection seating and pin insertions in sockets; this is particularly important in high power RF interconnections where multipaction in thermal-vacuum environments can occur due to improper mating. NA NA Space Vehicle Systems Engineering Handbook, TOR-2006(8506)-4494, Space Vehicle Test and Evaluation Handbook, TOR-2011(8591)-2; Standard/Handbook for Radio Frequency (RF) Breakdown Prevention in Spacecraft Components (TOR-2014)-02198
4.5.4-9-4 Ensure test readiness is evaluated Phase C | Phase D1 | Ensure completeness of test readiness to include certified resources (manpower, equipment), contingency planning, environment and situational awareness of other competing programs. Ensure that all STE and its associated software has been properly tested for compatibility (no glitches) and test sequences optimized for efficiency to avoid redundancies. Ensure reviews are conducted at each lower level of assembly before integration to a higher level. NA NA Space Vehicle Test and Evaluation Handbook, TOR-2011(8591)-2
